I love a list. Always have. I think most women do. In fact, I recently realised that I almost always have a pen in my hand, and that makes me a type of person - according to a list.
I was right in the middle of overwhelm. LOTS on at home, at work, my health, etc etc. I felt responsible for everything. And I had a 4 page to-do list on my fridge that I looked at every day, crossed one thing off, added 2 more.
A very wise lady stopped this cycle in its tracks. Now, this doesn't work for everyone, but has helped some of my clients already so I wanted to share it with you.
Rip up that list.
"WTF?!?" I hear you cry. "But...it's my 'TO-DO-list'!?!"
Yep, do it.
Anything really important can be set as a reminder on your calendar for another time, or it will come back to you when it's more urgent.
Anything nice to have, or that’s been on there for aaaaages – doesn’t need to taunt you every day from the front of the fridge.
1. What must be done today?
2. What must be done this week?
At work - don’t have an A4 page full of to-do tasks which you just copy and paste into each day.
Split your page into your working days, and put the tasks in the day you’ll do them - and here's the kicker, forget about them until that day.
You can do this for work and home - give your brain the elbow room to breathe and concentrate on one thing at a time.
Be present, be productive, and be free of the uber-list.
Posted my blog. Tick. Ok, what's next?...
