You know 'The Fear’. It sneaks up on you like dry ice about 3 o’clock on a Sunday afternoon and by 9pm you’re in a tight ball on the sofa with an oversize cardi and a vocabulary of a caveman.
It’s the Sunday (or this week, Monday) Fear.
And anyone who has had a stressful or unwanted job will know what I mean.
Here’s the thing. You have 2 choices:
- Change the situation causing the Fear
- Stop indulging in the Fear if you're not going to do anything about the situation you're in
If you’re not going to do anything to alleviate the cause, don’t let it ruin your Sunday night. Go out and do something less boring instead, as the ‘Why Don’t You?’ gang used to say. Plan your Sunday night like you plan your Saturday. If your "I'm just chilling" actually involves staring at TV stressing about work, that’s not chilling – that’s just stressing quietly. Live your weekend to the full and stay active when the dry ice starts appearing. Ideally not a huge sunday-session @ Bucket List, but go out to dinner, go for a walk, whatever works for you.
If you've tried all of this, and you still have the Fear every. single. Sunday – you have to change something, you have to take control of the situation.
This doesn't mean changing jobs necessarily, it could mean a different way of working or a new set of goals where you are.
But you need to create a plan. To change the situation you're in, or change the situation you're in.
You've got to act. Life is too short to waste half your weekend worrying about Monday morning.
I honestly didn't think it was possible, but I'm impatient for Mondays to start now because I have found my passion.
Find your Direction. Increase your Confidence. Achieve your Goals. It's an awesome feeling.
